Advancing AMR mitigation in the Caribbean via strategic proposal development

US$ millions unless stated. Haitian fiscal year, October to September. FY2026-27 began October 1, 2026.

Description

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) remains a growing threat to global public health. In the Caribbean, regional organizations and researchers are working together to strengthen microbiological diagnostics, enhance surveillance systems and review National Action Plans (NAPs) to combat AMR. Despite progress, only two CARICOM countries have published NAPs, and five others have developed plans. Recent scoping studies on AMR-related gaps in the research, policy and regulatory frameworks and public health interventions, and subsequent prioritization workshops have allowed identification of priority areas for an evidence-based AMR mitigation plan in the region. A call for concept notes funded 12 Caribbean research teams to develop investment cases for future investments in the identified priority areas for AMR mitigation. This project aims to support the investment

case teams to further refine their proposals, so they are prepared to apply to an anticipatory call for proposals on AMR mitigation in the Caribbean.
