Humanitarian Support: Improving Humanitarian Action - Haiti
US$ millions unless stated. Haitian fiscal year, October to September. FY2026-27 began October 1, 2026.
Description
Humanitarian support (Flexible Funds): Outcomes for crisis-affected populations are improved through agile, efficient and effective humanitarian assistance with identified strategic and emergent priorities: Save the Children Haiti will deliver rapid, targeted humanitarian assistance to children and families affected by Hurricane Melissa, addressing urgent survival, WASH and education needs while protecting vulnerable groups. The response will support 2,000 families with cash transfers to help them meet immediate necessities, complemented by the distribution of 300,000 hygiene kits and the installation of 120 handwashing points in affected schools and shelters to reduce waterborne disease risks. To restore access to learning as quickly as possible, Save the Children will provide logistical support to clean and rehabilitate 40 schools that were flooded or used as

shelters, enabling 10,800 students to return to class, and will distribute 3,000 student kits and 120 teacher kits to replace essential materials lost in the disaster. Protection efforts will prioritize girls and other vulnerable groups through the distribution of 800 dignity kits and expanded SGBV prevention sessions in shelters and affected communities. In total, the project aims to reach 14,720 people, including 13,800 children—among them 50 children with disabilities. With its established presence and strong local partnerships, Save the Children will maximize the impact of this life-saving support, while post-distribution monitoring will help assess and strengthen the effectiveness of the cash and kit interventions. All SC programmes are gender mainstreamed, inclusive and aims to strengthen resilience.
