Description
The company Crafting Markets B.V. focuses on purchasing high-quality raw cocoa beans from local farmers and cooperatives. In more than 25 countries, they work with local (groups of) farmers and help them find new markets, i.e. chocolate makers who will buy their cocoa. Crafting Markets aims for full transparency and fair (high) pricing, so that impact is created at local level in order to contribute to a sustainable cocoa industry.During this DGGF-TA import shipments have been financed from Haiti, Ghana, Peru and Tanzania. Over 9,500 smallholder farmers are involved with the imports. Crafting Markets pays fair prices for Cacao against 20% higher prices than the world market prices. 1,118 indirect jobs have been supported with this project. Knowledge transfer also

has taken place as the cooperatives involved continuously train the farmers on quality and fermentation processes, giving farmers a better understanding of optimal farming practices ensuring high quality cocoa.
