Triple Nexus Haiti/Dominican Republic

US$ millions unless stated. Haitian fiscal year, October to September. FY2026-27 began October 1, 2026.

Description

This programme fosters community driven responses, to transfer power into the hands of communities in borderland regions, building their resilience to climate change, and reducing humanitarian need (more resilient); strengthening inclusive conflict resolution mechanisms to better respond to the needs of at-risk groups (more cohesive); and works with decision makers for holistic policy approaches that address the root causes of vulnerability, fragility and conflict while simultaneously meeting humanitarian needs and strengthening resilience. Tackling these challenges in each of the four borderland regions (Burkina Faso and Mali, Dominican Republic and Haiti, Ethiopia and Kenya, Israel and the occupied Palestinian Territory), requires a joined-up approach across the humanitarian, development and peacebuilding nexus, to address climate-related security risks. The Triple Nexus approach provides

communities with a holistic, localised, coordinated and effective response, leveraging the complementarities of partners’ expertise, to reinforce the mutually reinforcing dividends of their interventions. It is important to notice that a social, cultural and traditional dimension that exist between communities leaving at the bordering zone could also support to build cohesion, and support/encourage cross learning on better practices on peace building, climate adaption, sustainable development, DRR, etc. Each of the 4 regions are rapidly changing contexts, which require adaptive approaches and partners’ strategies are also tailored to the specific borderland context, while drawing from good practices and lessons learned in different regions. In this way, interventions are multisectoral and implemented through a One Christian Aid approach, with combination funds provided by Christian Aid and Christian Aid Ireland to support partners in each of the four borderlands regions.
