EA25 2016 Support to early recovery of families affected by Hurricane Matthew

US$ millions unless stated. Haitian fiscal year, October to September. FY2026-27 began October 1, 2026.

Description

Hurricane Matthew made landfall in Haiti on October 4 2016 with a speed of 220 km/h and was ranked a level 4 Hurricane. The hurricane left considerable losses and significant damage, undermining efforts to fight poverty, particularly in the southern regions of Grand'Anse, Nippes, Nord-Ouest, Ouest and The Artibonite at a time of political and economic instability. This Emergency Appeal follows on from the Rapid Response to support 6250 effected families to gain access to basic food items and promote the recovery of agricultural production; reduce the risk of spread of infectious diseases through awareness activities and provide shelter repair kits.
