Improving the socio-economic and environmental living conditions of families

Published title: Improving the socio-economic and environmental living conditions of families in Haiti

US$ millions unless stated. Haitian fiscal year, October to September. FY2026-27 began October 1, 2026.

Description

This project aims to improve food security and income for the population in a sustainable manner. Based on the resources built up locally in previous projects, experience in expanding agroecological production is being passed on. Families headed by single mothers are being specifically targeted. The construction of water infrastructure improves access to drinking and irrigation water, which relieves women and children in particular from having to fetch water from distant sources and rivers. The strengthening and establishment of savings and solidarity funds is being promoted in order to give young people in particular access to capital so that they can become entrepreneurs. They receive support and coaching in this process. Working with schools enables the development of nutritional and agricultural

knowledge in schools and contributes to better nutrition for children. The project approach is geared towards local groups and teachers at schools taking responsibility.
