Resilient and sustainable livelihoods for 250 absolutely poor households

Published title: Resilient and Sustainable Livelihoods for 250 absolutely Poor Households in Rural Haiti

US$ millions unless stated. Haitian fiscal year, October to September. FY2026-27 began October 1, 2026.

Description

The project aims to improve the nutritional, health, educational, and housing conditions of 250 ultra-poor families (approximately 1.250 people) in Thomassique county, Central Department, Haiti. In addition to thematic workshops that enhance entrepreneurial and social skills, participants-95% family providers and 5% family providers with disabilities-receive weekly one-on-one mentoring. They are also provided with individually tailored basic assets for two economic activities, along with construction materials for safe housing and a latrine. To promote sustainable improvements, the project strengthens local structures that support village development and the long-term social and economic integration of ultra-poor households. Furthermore, the partner organization engages in targeted advocacy and collaborates with regional governmental agencies to ensure that the specific challenges faced by the ultra-poor receive greater attention in Haitian social policy.
