Description

In November 2009 Australia and the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) signed a new development assistance partnership to provide a framework for cooperation on climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction, economic resilience, and people-to-people and institutional linkages through education, sports and volunteers. The overall objective of this assistance is to support regional partners and communities in the Caribbean to address vulnerabilities associated with climate change and natural disasters, and facilitate links with Pacific partners, specifically to develop action plans, strategy documents and protocols to inform adaption and mitigation activities in Antigua and Barbuda, Belize, Dominica, St Vincent and the Grenadines and St. Kitts-Nevis. The total value of this initiative is $14.0 million over 4 years, starting 2009-10.
