Full Description
Following the 7.2 magnitude earthquake in southern Haiti on August 14, 2021, Mercy Corps launched an emergency response program to support affected families in meeting their basic needs. The program, implemented from September 2021 to April 2023 in 10 communes across the Nippes and Grand'Anse departments, focused on providing multipurpose cash assistance, WASH support, and livelihood support. Key activities included distributing cash transfers to households, rehabilitating water supply systems, distributing hygiene kits, and providing business management training and grants to small and medium-sized enterprises. The program adapted to emerging needs, including the cholera outbreak in October 2022, by incorporating cholera response activities and hygiene promotion.
