Humanitarian Action for Children 2023: Haiti

This edition of UNICEF's Humanitarian Action for Children appeal covers 2023. UNICEF estimates that more than 4 million children will need humanitarian assistance, affected by increased gang-related violence, internal displacement, civil unrest, political instability as the country still reels from the killing of the President and indefinitely postponed elections, a socioeconomic crisis, rising food insecurity and malnutrition, the resurgence of cholera, and continued expulsion of Haitian migrants from several countries in the Americas, including the neighboring Dominican Republic. UNICEF supports the Government and humanitarian partners in ensuring access to and continuity of basic services for affected children and families, providing WASH, education, health, nutrition, child protection and social protection services, and responding to the cholera resurgence, with disaster risk reduction and emergency preparedness as an important component of its work. For 2023, UNICEF requests USD 210.3 million to meet the humanitarian needs of Haitian children and their families, targeting 2.7 million people, including 1.6 million children, out of 5.2 million people in need.
