School Register, Sud Department
- The 2024-2025 school census was the first MENFP data collection after nine years without one.
- The national census counted 18,241 schools, 18% run by the state, and 4,028,897 pupils, 20% of them in the public sector.
- The minister's preface reports more than 300 schools destroyed or forced to stop operating and about 942 closed since the start of the crisis.
- Each school carries a 12-digit code: six digits for location, one for public or non-public sector, and a school number.
- The Sud register covers five arrondissements and 19 communes, from Les Cayes to Tiburon.
The register was produced by the MENFP Direction de la Planification et de la Coopération Externe (DPCE) from the 2024-2025 school census, the first data collection after nine years without one, with support from the IDB and UNESCO. It is one of ten departmental registers. Entries run by arrondissement (Les Cayes, Port-Salut, Aquin, Coteaux, Chardonnières), then commune, communal section or town, and public or non-public sector. Each school has a 12-digit identification code (CIE): six digits for location, one for sector, and a sequential school number. The other columns give the school's name, address, founder (MENFP for public schools), the founder's contact details, and levels taught, coded 1 for preschool, 2 for fundamental and 3 for secondary. Public schools are named with the prefix École nationale at the fundamental level and Lycée at the secondary level. The register lists more than 1,600 Sud schools, about 300 of them public.
