The 208-page register is one of ten departmental registers drawn from the 2024-2025 school census, the first data collection after nine years without one. Forewords by Minister Augustin Antoine and Director General Yves Roblin give national census totals: 18,241 schools, 18% run by the state, and 4,028,897 pupils, 20% of them in the public sector. The minister reports that more than 300 schools were destroyed or forced to stop operating and about 942 were closed, 515 of them completely. The introduction explains the school identification code (CIE): six digits locate the school by department, arrondissement, commune and communal section, a seventh marks it public or non-public, and the rest number the school. Levels are coded 1 for preschool, 2 for fundamental and 3 for secondary. Entries run by arrondissement (Gonaïves, Gros Morne, Saint-Marc, Dessalines, Saint-Michel), then by commune, split into public and non-public schools. The census received support from the IDB and UNESCO.
