Post-Earthquake Household Living Conditions Survey (ECVMAS Phase 1), Volume 1: Overall Results
Summary: The descriptive results volume of ECVMAS Phase 1, the household living conditions survey fielded between August 2012 and January 2013.
Key Findings
- The final sample covers 4,951 households, a completion rate of 99.8 percent against the 4,960 expected.
- The sampling frame is the master sample of 1,500 enumeration areas drawn from the roughly 12,000 in the country, with a separate draw inside displacement camps.
- The 447 camps active in July 2012 held about 386,749 people, close to 3.5 percent of the population, and 40 of them entered the sample.
- The national Gini coefficient is 0.77, and 0.78 on labor income alone.
- The food poverty analysis works from two calorie thresholds, 1,870 and 2,400 kcal.
- The gross household replacement rate reached 11.4 percent and 63.0 percent of clusters saw at least one replacement, which the volume itself flags as a limit on the comparability of some series.
Full Description
The descriptive results volume of ECVMAS Phase 1, the household living conditions survey fielded between August 2012 and January 2013. ECVMAS is the survey behind Haiti's official poverty figures for that period, and this volume carries the descriptive tabulations the poverty estimates were computed from rather than the estimates alone.
