Key Findings
Full Description

Published by FEWS NET in March 2015, this document carries the national livelihood zone map for Haiti and a profile of each zone. The zoning names each area by what its households actually live on: dry coastal maize and charcoal, northern tubers and horticulture, Plateau Central maize and tubers, the Artibonite rice plain, the Arcahaie banana plain of the West, western market gardening and beans, southern beans, banana and petty trade, and southwestern coastal maize, cassava and gathering, with a ninth urban zone. Livelihood zoning is the framework that makes food security analysis spatially specific, since a drought or price shock affects a charcoal-and-maize coast differently from a rice plain. NOTE: the zone codes in this document run HT01 to HT09 and denote LIVELIHOOD ZONES, not the ISO department codes of the same form used elsewhere in this corpus.
