Haiti Youth Survey 2009, Volume II: Analytical Report
Summary: Analytical volume of the Haiti Youth Survey, written nine months after the January 2010 earthquake from data collected before it.
Key Findings
- Treats education, labor force participation and migration as the three sectors that determine youth social mobility.
- The data are pre-earthquake while the analysis is post-earthquake, so the report doubles as a counterfactual baseline.
- Covers demographics, birth registration, literacy and household income alongside the three main sectors.
Full Description
The analytical volume of the Haiti Youth Survey. It analyzes education, labor force participation and migration as the three sectors governing whether young Haitians achieve social mobility, and adds demographic and household-economy context. The data were collected nine months before the January 2010 earthquake and the analysis was written after it, which is the report's particular value: an extensive national pre-earthquake baseline read in the light of what followed.
