CEP/DC/055-2526: A three-post centre opens at SONAPI for Cite Soleil, with about 1,200 centres operational nationwide
- A registration and voting centre with three posts opened at SONAPI on 1 September 2026 to serve Cite Soleil.
- About 1,200 centres are operational nationwide at that date.
- Work is under way at Arcahaie and Cabaret in Ouest II, and on La Gonave and in the Palmes.
- The CEP is assigning additional staff to strengthen centre capacity.
The centre opened on Tuesday 1 September 2026 at the Société Nationale des Parcs Industriels, with three registration posts, to ease access to voter registration for the commune of Cite Soleil and the areas around it. Council president Jacques Desrosiers performed the opening and said the institution means to bring electoral services closer to citizens, and named the case where access constraints stand in the way of civic rights.
The note sets out where the rollout stands elsewhere. The CEP is working to strengthen the presence of registration and voting centres in the jurisdiction of Ouest II, at Arcahaie and Cabaret, and teams are at work on the island of La Gonave and in the Palmes region.
About 1,200 registration and voting centres are operational across the country at that date. The Council adds that it is strengthening the operational capacity of the centres, in particular by assigning additional staff.
