CEP/DC/034-2526: Registration centres keep opening nationwide, and all 20 communes of the Sud now have one

The note is a progress statement on the rollout of registration and voting centres. It says most centres are operational in all departments, and gives one department in full: in the Sud, all twenty communes now hold a registration centre where citizens meeting the conditions of the electoral decree can be entered on the electoral register.

At a press conference for journalists in Les Cayes on Tuesday 4 August 2026, Councillor Yves Marie Edouard argued the case for registration in institutional terms. She said the CEP needs a reliable electoral register to organize the elections better, to strengthen the transparency of the process and to consolidate citizens' confidence in the electoral body, and she asked citizens to go to the centre nearest their home or of their choice with their Carte d'identification nationale.
