The meeting on Thursday 20 August 2026 at the Hôtel Kinam was the first of a series, held with a first group of representatives of approved political structures. It covered the candidate registration platform and where the electoral process stood.
CEP president Jacques Desrosiers said the organization of elections rests on popular participation and will, and on a collective commitment to the nation, and that public office requires integrity, competence and a sense of duty. He said the country deserves credible elections and called for reviving citizens' hope of taking full part in the process.
The party and grouping representatives raised the electoral decree, the regime for financing political parties, the requirement that political formations submit a list of thirty thousand members, and the security situation. At the close the president invited them to submit a memorandum gathering their grievances, proposals and expectations. On the same day, system administrators designated by political formations attended a first orientation session on how the candidate registration platform works.
