Successful start of voter registration operations

A CEP press note, reference CEP/DC/027-2526, reporting that voter registration operations began successfully on Monday 20 July 2026. As announced, nine geographic departments were covered by the official launch, with the exception of the Ouest. Councillors were present in the field during the day and proceeded to the official opening of several Registration and Voting Centres in the capitals of the departments concerned, where various citizens took the opportunity to register on the electoral register with a valid national identification card, with a view to the coming polls. The Council states that operations are continuing and will extend progressively to all departments and to the various communes of the country, and reaffirms its commitment to conducting the electoral process inclusively, impartially and transparently, respecting the principles of independence and integrity and each citizen's right to take part in the democratic life of the country.
