Dialogue between the CEP and political actors ATHA and MPARE

A CEP press note reporting a meeting held on Friday 3 July 2026 between Council members and representatives of two political structures, Alternative pour transformer Haïti and Mouvement patriotique du renouveau, on the principal issues in the electoral process. The exchanges fall within the dialogue the Council initiated with political actors around the coming electoral deadlines. The discussions bore in particular on certain provisions of the electoral decree considered contentious, on the independence of the electoral institution, and on other questions of national interest relating to the organization of the coming elections. The leaders of the two formations expressed their wish to see broad consultations bringing together the various vital forces of the nation held before any publication of the electoral calendar. The Council reaffirms its intent to strengthen spaces for dialogue with all stakeholders in the electoral process. The note dates the parties' own objections to the same decree the Council had publicly called unconstitutional a month earlier, and it records their demand to be consulted before the calendar is set.
