A CEP press note reporting that on Thursday 28 May 2026 the Electoral Chair, which the Council co-chairs, opened its first international conference on the theme of delivering the 2026 elections in Haiti and the expectations and opportunities attached to them. Over three days CEP members, the institution's senior staff, officials of the State University of Haiti, national and international partners and electoral experts discussed the issues bound up with democratic governance and with strengthening the electoral process. On the opening day, speakers addressed the success of the coming general elections and its conditions and challenges, credibility, transparency and the fight against corruption in the electoral process, and elections and security. The exchanges brought out the importance of securing the confidence of all stakeholders, through greater transparency, strong citizen mobilization and respect for the rules of the game and for everyone's rights. Speakers also stressed the need to prevent post-electoral crises by developing scientific research, in particular by involving universities and research centers.
