A CEP press note reporting a working session held on Wednesday 20 May 2026 between Council members and the Minister of National Education and Vocational Training, Vijonet Déméro, to strengthen institutional cooperation between the two bodies. The exchanges bore in particular on the use of public school infrastructure, national schools and lycées among them, to facilitate the voter registration operations then due to begin shortly. On that basis several schools were to be mobilized and put at the CEP's disposal, both for registration and for the organization of the coming general elections, which the note frames as a way of improving citizens' access to the exercise of the right to vote across the country. At the close the two institutions agreed to sign a protocol of engagement framing their collaboration throughout the electoral process. Schools are the usual sites for voting and registration centers in Haiti, which is what makes this a logistical arrangement rather than a courtesy call: it is the same ministry whose logistical support later underpinned the training of some four thousand electoral security agents. Au cours de cette rencontre, les dchanges ont port6, entre autres, sw l'utilisation des infrastructures scolaires publiques, notamment les ecoles nationales et les lyc6es, en vue de faciliter les opdrations d'inscription des 6lecteurs, lesquelles devraient ddmarrer prochainement. Dans cette perspective, plusieurs 6tablissements scolaires seront mobilisds et mis d la disposition du CEP tant pour les opdrations d'inscription que pour l'organisation des prochaines dlections g6n6rales. Cette d6marche dewa garantir une meilleure accessibilit6 des citoyens d l'exercice du droit de vote d travers le pays.
