New working session of the CEP with the electoral security cell

A CEP press note reporting a working session held on Thursday 28 May 2026 with the members of the electoral security cell, chaired by Jacques Desrosiers in the presence of other Council members and Executive Director Uder Antoine. The session brought together representatives of the command of the Gang Repression Force, the Haitian National Police, the Ministry of Justice and Public Security, the United Nations Development Programme and the United Nations Office for Project Services. It falls within preparations for the coming electoral contests, and the exchanges bore mainly on putting in place a security apparatus capable of letting the CEP continue with electoral operations.

The note sets out what that apparatus is to include: securing the transport of sensitive and non-sensitive electoral material, protecting the staff involved in organizing the elections, and guaranteeing the security of voters and candidates during the campaign and on polling day. Those three headings are the useful content, because they translate a general security concern into the specific operations that have to be protected. The session continues the coordination structure the CEP activated in April 2025. It is dated Pétion-ville, 28 May 2026.
