A CEP press note reporting that on Monday 20 April 2026 the Council installed Uder Antoine as its new Executive Director, succeeding Jean Roger Philippe Augustin, at a ceremony attended by Council members, national and international partners and the institution's senior staff. The outgoing director spoke with the sense of a duty discharged after twenty-two years in the Haitian electoral system, and said he hoped the electoral institution would keep modernizing by applying the reforms it needs. CEP president Jacques Desrosiers expressed the Council's gratitude to him and, welcoming Uder Antoine, drew attention to his considerable experience, noting that he had already held the post from 2016 to 2019. Desrosiers also recalled the scale of the challenges facing the Council in a national context marked in particular by security constraints, and insisted on the need to conduct the electoral process rigorously and responsibly through to its conclusion. The timing is worth holding: the change came ten weeks before the decree of 2 June 2026 and three months before voter registration opened.
