Hurricane Melissa imagery (Nov 2025)
Post-hurricane satellite imagery of the ground Maxar's satellites flew over in Haiti between 31 October and 7 November 2025. Coverage reaches 61.7 percent of Haiti's land area and follows the flight paths, not the damage.
Method
1,585 post-event Maxar ARD scenes at 0.73 to 0.79 m, acquired over Haiti on five passes between 31 October and 7 November 2025. Their union covers 61.7 percent of Haiti's land area. Streamed as cloud-optimized GeoTIFFs directly from Maxar's public S3; nothing is rehosted. Footprints are indexed from the bbox of each STAC item, tested against the union of hti-adm1.geojson. The catalog also holds pre-event scenes from 2023 and 2024; the layer leaves them out. Rendered as one MosaicJSON, so the engine culls scenes to the viewport itself, and reprojected from UTM zones 18N and 19N to web mercator in the browser. Input 20 to 235 is stretched to the full range, because Maxar's 8-bit visual asset clips over bright ground and reads as washed out; gamma stays at 1, since raising it worsens the clipping. Zoom 19 is the ceiling, already finer than the 0.73 m the sensor records.
