The decree of 4 April 1974 governing adoption in Haitian law and strengthening the adoptee's rights within the new family: conditions, procedure before the judge, effects on filiation and on inheritance. It governed adoption for nearly forty years, including through the wave of international adoptions that followed the 2010 earthquake.
