The general Consumer Price Index (base 100 = 2017-2018) rose from 570.4 in November 2025 to 575.8 in December, a monthly increase of 0.9% and an annual increase of 25.0%, down from 1.0% monthly and 28.3% annual in November. The slowdown in annual inflation was led by food and non-alcoholic beverages (26.2%), clothing and footwear (23.2%), housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (40.5%) and restaurants (27.9%), all of which decelerated from November. Within food, rice eased to 26.5% in December from 33.6% in November, meat to 34.0% from 37.5%, cooking oil to 30.2% from 35.5% and bananas to 33.2% from 36.0%. Rent slowed to 37.1% from 39.8%, and electricity to 237.5% from 575.0%. Locally produced and imported goods rose 27.3% and 21.5% year-on-year respectively. Regionally, the Rest of the West, the Metropolitan Area and the Transversal Zone recorded the largest annual increases at 26.0%, 25.7% and 25.0%, while the North and South regions stayed below 25.0%.
