The general Consumer Price Index (base 100 = 2017-2018) rose from 556.4 in September 2025 to 564.9 in October, a monthly increase of 1.5% and an annual increase of 32.2%, up from 1.8% monthly and 31.9% annual the previous month. The acceleration reflects higher prices across several divisions of the household basket, notably food and non-alcoholic beverages (1.5% monthly, 35.1% annually), clothing and footwear (1.8%, 27.1%), housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (1.6%, 49.2%), restaurants (3.2%, 34.8%) and miscellaneous goods and services (1.8%, 25.8%). Within food, rice rose 37.4% on average, meat 42.7%, herring 44.7%, cooking oil 42.5% and bananas 42.7% year-on-year. Rent rose 42.5%, electricity 575.0% and charcoal 36.8%. Locally produced and imported goods rose 34.5% and 28.7% year-on-year respectively. Regionally, the Rest of the West, the South and the Metropolitan Area posted the largest annual increases at 33.7%, 32.7% and 32.3%.
