Key Findings
Full Description
This feasibility study, financed by the European Union and conducted by A.R.S. Progetti S.P.A., examines the construction of a road bypass around the border towns of Dajabon (Dominican Republic) and Ouanaminthe (Haiti). The study is part of the Northern Corridor infrastructure aid program and binational cooperation between Haiti and the Dominican Republic. The current border crossing is located in the heart of the urban areas of both cities, forcing international freight transport to circulate through urban zones, causing traffic congestion, pollution, and safety issues. The study aims to provide decision-makers with sufficient information to justify project acceptance, modification or abandonment, choose optimal solutions, and prepare identification sheets for project formulation and financing research. The study is conducted in two phases: Phase 1 analyzes different bypass route options at feasibility level, while Phase 2 provides technical study of the selected route option at simplified preliminary project level.
