About this monitor

This monitor tracks how people in Haiti use AI tools such as ChatGPT and Claude, what the tools cost relative to local incomes, and how well the country is connected. It draws on usage data that OpenAI, Anthropic and Microsoft publish by country, on network measurements from Cloudflare and StatCounter, and on World Bank, ILO and UN statistics.

Haiti is compared with three countries and one group. The Dominican Republic shares the island with Haiti, and Jamaica is a Caribbean neighbor; both have higher incomes. Benin is a French-speaking country with an income close to Haiti’s. The lower-middle-income average covers the countries in Haiti’s World Bank income group that have data.

This is a starting point. Company data cover Haiti thinly, so some charts rest on a few months of data or a small sample. Each caption gives the period and, where the source reports one, the sample size.
