Full Description
This is a weekly statistical table produced by the BRH's Direction Controle de Credit tracking Bons BRH (BRH treasury bills), the central bank's short-term debt instrument sold to the banking system, in millions of gourdes. For each week from 2 September to 18 November 2020 it reports issuance by maturity (7, 28, 91 and 182 days), total amounts served and cancelled, total bids submitted, the outstanding stock (encours) of bills by maturity net of repos, bills maturing, the number of participating banks, issuance discount (escompte d'emission), cumulative discount, effective interest, and repo (mise en pension/prise en pension) outstanding.
The data show no bill issuance or outstanding stock from 9 September through 28 October 2020 (encours at zero, aside from a small 190 million gourde residual at 2-Sep-20). Activity resumed on 4 November 2020 with 550 million gourdes in 7-day bills and 740 million gourdes in 91-day bills, and by 18 November 2020 the outstanding stock reached 4,020 million gourdes across 7-day (1,850), 28-day (250) and 91-day (1,920) maturities, with five banks participating. Auction rates as of 18-Nov-20 were 4.0% for 7-day bills, 6.0% for 28-day bills and 10.30% for 91-day bills, while the mise en pension (BRH repo facility) rate held constant at 17.0% throughout the period.
