The Emergency Bridge Reconstruction and Vulnerability Reduction Project (PROReV) in Haiti was designed to address the aftermath of Tropical Storms Fay, Gustav, Hannah, and Hurricane Ike (FGHI) in 2008, which severely damaged the country's transport infrastructure and exacerbated existing vulnerabilities. The project aimed to restore access to critical points in the transport system and reduce vulnerability to national disasters by strengthening the National Disaster Risk Management System (NDRMS). Key activities included the reconstruction of bridges, repair of roads, and institutional strengthening of relevant ministries and agencies. The project also adapted to the challenges posed by the 2010 earthquake, reallocating resources and adjusting strategies to address the changed context and priorities.
