    "en": "**The BRH's weekly auction of its own bills**, the central bank's main instrument for\ndraining gourde liquidity from the banking system alongside the reserve requirement. Each\nauction reports the amount issued and outstanding by maturity, the bids banks submitted,\nthe amount allotted and cancelled, the bills falling due, how many banks took part, and the\nnominal and pre-counted discount rates.\n\nThe outstanding stock reads directly as policy stance: it doubled over FY2016 while the BRH\nwas leaning against inflation, and it swung from 24.9 billion gourdes in October 2025 to\n10.8 billion at the end of December before climbing back above 32 billion by August 2026.\n\n**What is published here is the annual series**: the fiscal-year-end outstanding level\nquoted in each BRH annual report, FY1998 to FY2016, every figure attributed to the report it\nwas read from.\n\nThe weekly auction data is extracted and held but not published. BRH overwrites its weekly\nsheet in place, so the run that could be recovered reaches back only through three snapshot\nwindows \u2014 a chart of gaps rather than a series. A Monday capture is now accumulating a\ncontinuous run, and the weekly frequency goes live once it is worth charting.\n"
